Lochside
Cottage
We would like to introduce Lochside Cottage the
newest accommodation on Ranch Chalet Park which can cater for 8 till 10 persons,
by telling something about the history of this delightful cottage. The cottage
is situated in a beautiful secluded location at the side - as the name suggests
- of our Loch Katrina, a ten minute walk from the other lodges ( and
bar/restaurant /shop ) on our park.. Lochside Cottage has its own acces from the
main road.
As all the other houses and cottages around,
Lochside Cottage formed part of the 7000 acre Kindeace Estate. The estate
comprised of no less than eight farms, a famous Grouse-moor , extensive
woodlands while a river formed the estate boundary and that together with a few
lochs made this a very attractive sporting-estate.

Lochside Cottage used to be the Dairyman's
cottage and as such belonged to the Home Farm , the biggest farm on the estate
which provided meat and milk to the "big house ". The cottage was built between
1910 and 1920 in the typical architectural style of that time.
During 2003/2004 the cottage was extensively
renovated and enlarged and every effort has been made to ensure that
accommodation was created to satisfy the highest expectations while at the same
time trying to maintain the charms of this authentic cottage.
